A friend of mine once secured a new job in a foreign country. By his standards and the nature of his job, it was required that he moves with his properties, working tools and family members across the border. My friend was severely bothered with unanswered questions especially when the departure date drew nearer.

Cross-country moves are exciting, and adrenaline driven, so take time to plan and affect your move.

Tax, pensions, driver’s licenses and healthcare issues have to be carefully worked out before your move. Every country has its own policies, binding these issues, so great time must be taken to study how it works in oversea countries. If your relocation is such that entails moving to a foreign land, it can only be wise to make proper research on that country well ahead of time. This is one important aspect in your moving plan that needs great attention. Well all thanks to the advent of the internet, it’s now much easier to research on a foreign Nations.

Most importantly, before settling for a shipping method you need to remember that long distances as well as climatic changes, affects your goods and other wooden furniture. So you want them to reach its destinations in good conditions. Employ highly professional movers that will take pains studying the routes, geography and climatic changes the shipment will encounter along the way.

Family and friends moving with you will have to be accessed as regards to their state of mind, health care and so on. You don’t want to force anyone against his will, so take great care when planning a move overseas, it is interesting and also complex.

Are you pet-friendly? Then work out issues bothering on the laws of the other country concerning keeping pets. Make sure all vaccinations are properly taken care of; you don’t want your pet to be impounded on arrival so thrash out all impending matters before moving pets. Some of these matters are

1)      Vet doctors’ health records on the pet from birth which will also be forwarded to the new veterinary doctor in charge.

2)      A current health certificate of your pet should be issued to you, so make sure it is current and at least not more than ten days old. Also find out from the laws of the other country what is obtainable. It must also be duly signed by a qualified personnel that is licensed with the vet doctors’ regulatory board.

3)      Obtain all inoculation records for your pets and make sure it is up to date. Outbreak of pet related diseases always spark diplomatic row between transiting countries. You don’t want to be caught in the midst of this.

4)       You have to apply and get a permit giving you authority to bring your pet into a country. Discuss these issues with both the old and new pet doctors to assist you in this regard.

5)      If your pet has been issued an identification number or tag, secure it around the pet’s collar without causing any significant health risk to it. Such tags should carry along with it the pet’s name, your name, and the designating countries addresses. Some countries make it mandatory that certain pets like dogs and cats have rabies tag attached to them.
